GAC Mitsubishi Motors (GMMC), the joint venture formed by Guangzhou Automobile (GAC), Mitsubishi Motors (MMC) and Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), has started operations in Changsha, Hunan Province, China.
Guangzhou Automobile Group owns 50% stake in the joint venture, which was formed on 25 September 2012, while Mitsubishi Motors holds 33% and Mitsubishi Corporation holds 17%.
GMMC will produce and sell MMC cars in China, while production of the 2013 ASX compact SUV is expected to start from late October.
In addition, GMMC is also planning to add another production model to its portfolio, Pajero Sport, in order to meet the growing demand for SUVs in the Chinese automobile market.
According to the company, GMMC has been established to meet the needs of the automobile market in the world by offering Chinese consumers with different vehicles.
