Hasbro Has Embarked on Its Plans to Expand Its Film and TV Division

Josh Feldman will focus on adapting the company’s toy properties into live action and animated films.

Hasbro has embarked on its plans to expand its film and TV division with the appointment of a new head of development at Hasbro Studios.

In a newly created role with the firm, Josh Feldman will head the team and focus on adapting the company’s toy properties into live action and animated films.

The ‘branded play’ giant has already enjoyed success with film franchises based on its Transformers and G.I. Joe action figures.

Feldman will now help the studio develop further toy properties, along similar lines to the upcoming Candy Land, Jem and the Hologram and Ouija movies.

Variety reports that Feldman has previously helped Hasbro adapt Magic: The Gathering for the silver screen at Fox.

Stephen Davis, president of Hasbro Studios and global entertainment and licensing for Hasbro, said: “Josh is ideally suited for this role as we look to expand our feature business.

"His focus will be on both our franchise and new brands in live-action and animation, and Josh will work closely with the studio’s TV development, brand, design, digital and licensing teams to deliver full storytelling integration across our brand blueprint.”
