Colombia exported 17,858 mt of ferronickel in the first two months of this year, falling 30.8 percent, with a value of $102 million, falling 39 percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE).
In February this year, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 16,850 mt, falling 45.3 percent, worth $55.5 million, down 54.5 percent, both compared to the same month of 2012. In the first two months of the year, Colombia's iron and steel export value fell by 32.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, coming to $136.6 million, totaling 42,641 mt, down 15.7 percent year on year, while the country's iron and steel import value decreased 3.7 percent year on year to $406.5 million. In the first two months of the current year, Colombia imported 511,091 mt of iron and steel products, rising by 25.2 percent year on year.
