Drugstore chains Rite Aid Corporation (RAD) has announced the availability of seasonal flu shots across its pharmacies nationwide.
Rite Aid pharmacy executive vice president Robert Thompson said that while it's too early to tell what the 2013-2014 flu season will bring, it's not too early to visit Rite Aid pharmacist for a flu shot.
"Getting a flu shot as soon as it is available remains the single best way to protect yourself and others against the flu, because the more people in a community who are immunized, the less chance of a widespread outbreak in that community," Thompson added.
Subject to state regulations, All Rite Aid pharmacies have supplies of and are able to administer the regular injectable flu shot; a high-dose flu shot approved for people 65 and older, Fluzone HD; and an intradermal flu shot.
Approved for people 18-64 years of age, intradermal flu shot uses a smaller needle for injection into the skin instead of the muscle.
An intranasal flu shot can also be ordered and administered at the Rite Aid pharmacies.
