Sears Holdings Corporation announced the election of Cesar L. Alvarez, co-chairman of the international law firm of Greenberg Traurig, LLP, to membership on the Sears Holdings board of directors.

"His expertise in advising large organizations, working on complex matters, and diverse corporate board experience make him ideally suited to join our board, as we continue our transformation to a member-centric company through Integrated Retail and Shop Your Way."
Mr. Alvarez joined Greenberg Traurig, one of the fastest-growing law firms in the United States, in 1973. Prior to his appointment as co-chairman, Mr. Alvarez served the firm as its executive chairman for more than three years, and as its chief executive officer for 13 years, directing the firm through its dramatic growth over the years.
Prior to becoming CEO in 1997, he practiced securities, corporate and international law for more than 25 years. In 2008, Mr. Alvarez was honored by Chambers and Partners with its "Lifetime Achievement Award" and by the American Bar Association with their "Spirit of Excellence Award."
Mr. Alvarez also serves on the board of directors of Fairholme Funds, Inc.; Intrexon Corporation; Mednax, Inc.; St. Joe Co.; and Watsco, Inc.
He holds a Bachelor of Science, an M.B.A., and a J.D. from the University of Florida.Mr. Alvarez's election increases the number of Sears Holdings' directors to seven.
