California based Balqon has showcased its new MX30Class 8 electric tractor prior to it’s unveiling at Electric Vehicle Symposium 2012 in Lost Angeles, US.
The new30t capacity hybrid is powered by the company's drive system mated to a six speed automatic transmission and features idle-shut off technologies that are expected to increase energy conservation during vehicle's idle condition.
Its 600 Volt lithium batteries, which can be charged in about three hours, will facilitate to travel up to 150 miles under unloaded conditions on a single charge, while can move at speeds up to 70 mph.
According to the company, the new MX30 electric tractor is capable for short haul drayage and inner city applications.
