Sales generated by the German wood industry (including the furniture industry) rose by 2.8% in the first half-year 2012 to €16.458bn. This was main attributable to the contribution from the furniture industry (+4.5%). In the wood trade, which does not cover furniture manufacturers, sales increased only slightly by 1.2% in the first six months to €7.422bn. Here, marked differences were registered between sectors in the first processing stage, such as wood-based panel and lumber manufacturers, and value-adding businesses. Source: euwid-wood-products
