New Plant in Myanmar Is Built by Suzuki

Japanese automobile manufacturer Suzuki Motor is planning to build a new assembly plant in Thilawa District of Yangon, Myanmar.

Operations are expected to start in 2015 at the new plant, which will have an annual production capacity of 20,000 to 30,000 cars.

Suzuki expects the new assembly plant to manufacture several thousand cars a year in the initial years.

The new plant will be built on 40 hectares and will be established as a wholly owned subsidiary in the country.

Japan's government is supporting the project and helping the Myanmar organisations to improve infrastructure facilities like electricity, water and sewerage.

In addition, Japan wants to offer loans to the Myanmar government as early as possible for the development of the Thilawa district.
