IDG News Service-Yammer said it has simplified and expanded the ways in which its enterprise social networking(ESN)software can be integrated with third-party business applications.
Components from Yammer's ESN software that can be more broadly embedded into other applications include feeds,profiles and"follow"and"like"buttons,Yammer said on Monday.
The changes are designed to make it easier for developers to carry out these integrations and to offer a consistent ESN experience for end users across their business applications.
Yammer has had ways to integrate its software into third-party applications previously,including through its Yammer Connect plug-ins,Yammer Embed code for feed integration and Activity Stream API(application programming interface).
Yammer has also opened a directory with third-party applications that can be integrated with Yammer and whose privacy and security protections have been verified.
Yammer,which was recently acquired by Microsoft,also announced a deeper,native integration with its parent company's Dynamics CRM product.It's now possible for users to embed Yammer feeds and follow and like buttons into Dynamics CRM records.Yammer can also automatically generate profiles--called Pages--for specific CRM(customer-relationship-management)records,so that employees can engage in collaborative discussions about them.
Similar native integrations with other Microsoft software will follow,including a deepening of the existing integration between Yammer and SharePoint.
Yammer also announced its ESN software has been integrated with products from Okta,Smarsh and Symantec to boost its e-discovery,archiving and single-sign-on capabilities.
