Analogix, the mixed signal IC company specialising in low-cost, low-power HD transmission, has got its Slimport chip into four mobile devices which are now currently shipping - the Google Nexus 4, the Fujitsu Arrow Tab, the LG Optimus Pro and the Asus Padfone Infinity.
"There's another tablet and another ultra-thin notebook coming out in the next six months," Analogix vp Andre Bouwer told EW at the Globalpress Summit in Santa Clara this week.
The chip allows content on a phone to be displayed on any monitor, any TV or any projector.
Analogix is embarked on two developments -to achieve ICs capable of the 4k - ultra-HD 4000 x 2000 pixels - standard, and to put AV and data on the same wire.
Bouwer said the 4K chips would be ready by Q3 and the AV/data on the same wire devices would be available in "early 2014."
Using Slimport technology is essentially free. "The total adder is less than $2," said Bouwer, "it's cheaper than adding an HDMI connnection."
Analogix started booking revenues for Slimport last year. It is both selling Slimport chips and licensing the IP.
