The Belgian Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAMHP) has granted good distribution practice (GDP) certification to Panalpina's facility in Brussels, Belgium.
The new GDP certified facility includes a dedicated area for storing pharmaceuticals including human (and veterinary) medicines between 2°C and 8°C or between 15°C and 25°C.
The company said at the Brussels facility, temperatures are constantly monitored and temperature sensitive cargo is handled by trained Panalpina personnel only.
Panalpina managing director Peter Herling said in Brussels, the company is not content with being GDP compliant.
"As in the case of Schiphol Airport, we wanted to take it one step further and achieve GDP certification by an official body, in this case the Belgian FAMHP," Herling added.
"With an official GDP certification in hand, it is much easier for us - and consequently also for them - to prove that we adhere to the highest quality standards and mitigate risk."
