A New Polystyrene Foam Food Tray EVOK Made with 25% Recycled Material Was Introduced

Canadian green packaging manufacturer Cascades has introduced a new polystyrene foam food tray EVOK in North America, which is made with 25% recycled material.

According to the company, the new tray can be used to pack meat, poultry, fish, vegetables and fresh fruit.

Cascades claims that it has lowered the carbon footprint of food packaging by reducing the use of virgin material in the product and introducing recycled material at a level of 25%.

Cascades Specialty Products Group president and chief operating officer Luc Langevin said polystyrene foam, which is 90% air, provides the company with environmental advantage.

"By replacing a quarter of the virgin material we use with recycled material, Cascades can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by almost compared to it's traditional packaging made with polystyrene foam," Langevin said.
