Esdevium Games has reported a rise in sales for a number of its titles.
BBC reports Settlers of Catan and Carcassonne sales have increased rom 8,000 in 2010 to 18,000 last year.
Sales of railroad building game Ticket to Ride have risen from 3,500 to 9,000, and worldwide they have doubled since the launch of an app.
Esdevium's Steve Buckmaster said: "It used to be that you had to get a game into Woolworths, get the adverts on for Christmas and the public would decide based on what it had put in front of them.
"That world has gone. [These days], great products can generate good reviews and the sales accumulate."
The BBC report also looked at the shifting board games market and digital innovations.
