Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli is planning to invest GBP9m to upgrade its Carlisle tyres manufacturing facility in Cumbria, UK.
The new investment will add new machinery to improve the productivity, which is expected to secure the existing jobs.
Italian tyre maker is planning to invest GBP11.4m across its UK facilities, which preserves 120 jobs and further creates 34 new jobs.
According to Pirelli, the decisions still need to be made about possible new jobs, but it will safeguards staff, further increasing morale and job security during the downturn and protects the others involved in its supply chain.
Previously, the Carlisle facility was in danger of shutting down due to job losses brought about by a decline in demand for its tyres.
