Silicon Labs is sampling a digital radio-on-a-chip which supports FD, HD Radio and DAB/DAB+.
James Stansberry, vp and GM of Silicon Labs' broadcast products group told the Globalpress Summit meeting in Sant Cruz yesterday that the chip reduces the BOM and simplifies manufacturing. He said Si Labs is working with module makers to develop products as well as sampling the discrete chip.
The chip combines the RF tuner and baseband on a single die to avoid radio self-interference.
