Demand for Siberian larch lumber in Germany and on other Central European markets was sluggish in May. At this time of year larch usually enjoys brisk business. In April, lumber demand from industrial planing mills picked up briefly because buyers were compelled to make top-up purchases as their lumber stocks had reached a relatively low level. However, those purchases generated satisfactory business for only a short period. Market participants assume that the coming weeks will also not see any noticeable revival in business with larch.
