DB Automation offers its new Compact Flexible Robot (CFR) to the injection moulding industry as “the next generation of high-performance robotic take-out technology”. Take-out times as short as 200 milliseconds are claimed. The side-entry CFR uses an articulated motion to enter the mould area while the tool is still opening. Once inside the tool area, a further servo-controlled axis follows the continuing opening movement and removes the moulded product. This configuration is designed to minimise delay to the moulding cycle by demoulding. Traditional Cartesian demoulding can lengthen the cycle by up to 1.5 seconds, notes DB, which claims up to 25% increase in throughput with the CFR. The CFR already has a proven track record in the production of buckets and other plastic containers, according to the company. Following successful operation by a first UK customer, a second British injection moulder has ordered three CFR units. These are for a clean room, along with integrated downstream take-off handling units and conveyor stacking systems, also from DB Automation. The company offers provides full integration of its robots into moulding cells. Source:prw.com
