CANSI Released,Aggregate Shipbuilding Output in China DWT Down 20.9% Year on Year

According to the figures released by the China Association of the National ShipbuildingIndustry (CANSI), in the January-February period of this year the aggregate shipbuilding output in China totaled 5.69 million deadweight tons (dwt), down 20.9 percent year on year.

In the given period, China’s new ship orders amounted to 5.03 million dwt, up 1.9 percent year on year. As of the end of February, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 106.29 million dwt, down 27.4 percent year on year.

In the first two months, the total industrial output of large and medium-sized shipbuilding enterprises in China amounted to RMB 102.9 billion ($16.4 billion), down 4.9 percent year on year.

In the January-February period of this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders in China totaled 4.92 million deadweight tons (dwt), down 21.5 percent year on year and accounting for 86.5 percent of the total shipbuilding output in China. In the given period, China’s new ship export orders amounted to 3.9 million dwt, up 1.8 percent year on year and constituting of 77.6 percent of total new ship orders. As of the end of February, ship export orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 90.87 million dwt, down 25.9 percent compared with the same period of 2012.
