South African New Car Sales Grew 1.6% Y-O-Y in February

According to the data released by NAAMSA, South African new car sales were 53,220 (including the sales of Mercedes-Benz of South Africa) in February, up 1.6% year on year, while the sales were 52,388 of the same period last year. In the first 2 months, South African new car cumulative sales were 108,127.

In February this year, passenger car sales were 36,666 (including the sales of Mercedes-Benz of South Africa) in South African market, up 0.8% year on year, while the sales were 36,362 of the same period last year.

In South Africa in February, Toyota Motor sales were the highest, reached 11,027; next by Volkswagen and Nissan, sales were 9,100 and 4,703 respectively.

In February, South African light commercial vehicles sales were 14,190, up 4.7% year on year compared to 13,554 of the same period last year; medium-sized commercial vehicles sales were 868, down 7.6% year on year compared to 939 of the same period last year; Heavy commercial vehicles sales were 1,496, dropped 2.4% year on year compared to 1,533 of the same period last year.
