Recycling company TerraCycle and United Biscuits’ snack food brand McVitie’s have announced the launch of a new recycling program, the Biscuit Wrapper Roundup.
The new fundraising program encourages people across the UK to collect and send in waste biscuit wrappers to be recycled into new products.
The program allows schools, organizations or individuals to save biscuit wrappers from ending up in UK landfills.
According to TerraCycle, very little mixed plastic recycling is carried out by local council kerb side collections, as they do not have the infrastructure, resulting in billions of biscuit wrappers being sent to the landfill.
Consumers across the UK can end the enormous waste of resources by sending in any brand of used biscuit wrappers to be recycled into everyday products, through the scheme.
UK-wide McVitie's Biscuit Wrapper Brigade participants have saved over 18,000 waste biscuit wrappers from landfill till date.
