Ulthera has received a regulatory clearance to market and distribute its patented Ulthera system in Brazil.
The system combines ultrasound imaging with focused ultrasound therapy, in a treatment known as Ultherapy, to treat the face to encourage the natural formation of collagen and elastin in the skin, giving it the ability to lift tissue.
To distribute the Ulthera System in Brazil, Ulthera has selected MedSystems, an importer and distributor of clinical and aesthetic medical equipment and technology.
Ulthera president and CEO Matthew Likens said by bringing the Ulthera system into the cosmetic market will extend the global reach and popularity of non-invasive Ultherapy procedures.
"We anticipate -- and have already experienced -- high patient and physician demand for this efficacious treatment in Brazil, just as we have had in North America, Asia and Europe in our three years of commercialization to date," Likens added.
MedSystems commercial director Jose Luiz Pinto said after seeing how successful it has been in the US and in nearly 40 other countries, many of Brazil's aesthetic physician leaders were ready to bring the Ulthera System into their practices as soon as possible.
"The promise this ultrasound platform technology holds is not only valuable to MedSystems as a distributor of the System, but also to our physician customers who can depend on Ulthera's continued innovation of the System that will bring them more value during each year of ownership," Pinto added.
