A figurine of outgoing Manchester United FC manager Sir Alex Ferguson is flying off shelves as fans shop in their droves for a lasting memento.
Following last week's announcement of Fergie's retirement, Manchester United rushed to restock their stores with his SoccerStarz figure (pictured, left) made by Creative Toys.
"Sir Alex Ferguson’s SoccerStarz figure is one of the most popular in the SoccerStarz collection and Creative Toys is expecting an unprecedented demand for it, not only from the Man Utd club shop but resellers and fans alike," read a statement.
"The Fergie figure has been popular with fans and collectors ever since we launched it," added Mark Stinchcombe, Head of Toys at Creative.
"Ferguson changed the face of English football. Fans know that he is the most successful coach English soccer has ever seen, but he is also an authoritative and enigmatic character. Having ruled over United’s Old Trafford stadium for 26 years, he will be a Man Utd legend forever."
The Ferguson SoccerStarz figure features the manager wearing his familiar dark overcoat with his hands in his pockets, with a smile on his face (we're sure there must be some chewing gum amongst those teeth, too).
A figure based on incoming Manchester United manager and current Everton manager David Moyes (pictured, right) is also available.
SoccerStarz collectable figurines are on sale in major UK retailers including WHSmith, Argos, Co-op, Tesco, Hamleys, Toys R Us. They are also sold internationally in Japan, South Africa, the US and Central Europe.
