CEM Will Be One of The Priorities of The Mining Consortium

Within investment plans of US$300 million in Minera Autlán outlined by 2016, the expansion of the Compaía de Energía Mexicana (CEM), Minera Autlán’s hydroelectric plant, will be one of the priorities of the mining consortium.

So far this year, the operation of the power plant, located in Puebla and acquired in 2013, has meant savings of US$3 million with an annual capacity of 240 gigawatt hours, equivalent to 30 percent of its energy needs.

It was acquired to reduce their energy costs and in the future could sell their surplus to others.

Pedro Rivero, Minera Autlan Planning Director, said that two projects are being evaluated for potential expansion CEM; the first water intake works and installing a second turbine.

For the second quarter, Minera Autlán expects its annual sales to grow 31 percent.
