According to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), in the first three months of the current year motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 160,443 units, rising by 11.4 percent as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Meanwhile, in March Turkey's motor vehicle sales saw an increase of 43 percent month on month and were up five percent compared to the same month of 2012, totaling 72,380 units.
In the first three months of this year, Turkey's passenger car sales amounted to 114,434 units, rising by 17.3 percent year on year. In March, passenger car sales in Turkey rose by 9.6 percent year on year to 51,785 units, up 40 percent compared to February.
In the first three months, Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 205,373 units, rising by 2.5 percent, while its passenger car exports amounted to 110,744 units, falling by 1.6 percent, both compared to the same period last year. The country exported 84,409 small trucks in the period in question, up three percent year on year. The revenue for total motor vehicle and component exports in the January-March period amounted to $5.2 billion, falling 0.1 percent, while the revenue from passenger car exports totaled $1.7 billion, rising by 1.6 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2012.
In the first three months of 2013, Turkey's passenger car imports rose by 34 percent year on year, totaling 89,588 units. In the given period, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 108,962 units, rising by 25.1 percent year on year.
