The last few months of campaigning for the 18 Wheels of Christmas have proved to be a success for Rosenau Transport and the Calgary communities it endeavors to serve.
The campaign's official launch was on October 1, 2013 and food and cash donations to a number of food banks were delivered on December 19, 2013
The first delivery was made at the Okotoks Food Bank, where two mini-vans full of food and a cash donation of $1,900 was delivered.
The next stop was in Walden where after an entire day of collection yielded 16 boxes of food and half a skid of baby food.
Following Walden, the charitable effort moved to the Promenade at Lake Bonavista. The group collected 12 boxes of food and $730 in cash.
The campaign continued to move along to Fluor Canada and its Jean's Day for Food Event put on by the company's committee. An early start and three hours of work brought in 13 fully food collection boxes and $4,031 in cash.
From there 18 Wheels for Christmas was on hand in the community of Panorama. Over 12 boxes of food and half a skid of baby food was collected for the charity.
The last stop was in the community of Seton. The community rallied together to fill 16 boxes with food and three pallets of loose hampers.
18 Wheels of Christmas travelled all over the Calgary and could not have made the contributions to various outlets in the area without the support of Rosenau Transport, Titan Transport, Hill Bros., Mika Trucking, Univar, Desa Glass, Bess Tank Lines, TST Overland, Heinz, Chief Hauling/Gibson Energy, Nestle Canada, Superior Truck, Consolidated Fastfrate, Mid-West Surveys, Style-Craft Printing, J&R Hall Transport, Cypress Lath and Stake, Grote, Pro Trucker Magazine and Truck West.
The Calgary Food Bank received 48 skids double stacked in the 53' plus a tag along of 4 skids.
18 Wheels of Christmas makes donations to food banks in the area in which the contributions were collected.
