Italy-based Guala Closures Group has introduced a new range of closures Verso, Alusnap Olio and Olio 1031, for olive oil.
The closures have been developed with the technology that gives better pour, prevents re-filling and preserves the quality and provenance of olive oil.
Guala's Verso, which features a BPA-free spout, pops up every time the bottle is opened, and has been designed to offer maximum convenience with a perfect pour and a clean cut-off with no dripping.
The Verso closure fits standard neck finishes and can also be fully customized with a range of decorative solutions.
Alusnap Olio is claimed to be a new non-refillable anti-counterfeiting closure made of plastic and aluminum. It features internal tamper evident system with colored band becoming visible on first opening.
The company's Alusnap Olio closure locks onto the bead of a bottle and, if removed, creates obvious damage.
Olio 1031 closure is made entirely out of plastic and has the same safety features as Alusnap Olio. Both the closures feature a non-drip spout designed for the viscosity of oil to ensure a classic and easy pour with no dripping onto the bottle.
Guala Closures CEO Marco Giovannini said the olive oil food item is more liable to adulteration.
"It is not consumed all in one go at the table but is used continually in small doses over time, which exposes it to a number of risks - oxidation, accidental contamination and the risk of the bottle being re-filled with a different, lower quality product," Giovannini added.
