WiMAC Is Celebrating The Roll-out of Its Innovative Control Management System Technology

WiMAC, the leading software development company for street lighting, is celebrating the roll-out of its innovative Control Management System (CMS) technology across an impressive 200,000 street lights.

The company's CMS allows users to remotely dim street lights, monitor energy use as well as maintenance requirements of individual street lights.

WiMAC has been working with licensees during both the development stage of the innovative system, which took over six years and subsequently the roll out of the 200,000 street lights. The two UK licensees of WiMAC, Harvard Engineering (LeafNut) and Zodion (Vizion), have developed WiMAC compatible ballasts, nodes and system hardware to work with the software to provide a complete solution.

Glenn Pugh, technical director of WiMAC, commented "We are extremely pleased with the success of the wireless street lighting solution. The revolutionary product is allowing users to manage their street lighting systems in a way they have never been able to before. The fact that there are already 200,000 wireless street lights deployed also demonstrates the commitment local authorities and private users with their own street lighting installations are making not only to reduce their energy use, but also to reduce their carbon footprint and their impact on the environment."

A further 400,000 WiMAC street lights are already planned to be rolled out in the coming months.
