US line pipe imports displayed some startling changes in the latest June data available from the US Department of Commerce. Overall line pipe import levels rose by about 18% from May's final figure to June's preliminary figure of 195,457 tonnes. Imports from high-volume supplier Korea doubled from May to June, Steel Briefing finds. June imports from Korea totaled 62,275 t compared with 30,931 t in May. South Africa, Italy and China posted similarly impressive increases. Imports from South Africa rose from just 293 t in May to 10,093 t in June; imports from China rose from 1,289 t to 9,889 t; and Italy's rose from 676 t to 11,460 t in the same comparison. Conversely, imports from Canada fell from 27,265 t in May to 17,642 t in June.
