The Infiniti Q30 Concept Has Been Unveiled

Infiniti Q30: Compact Crossover Concept Revealed

The Infiniti Q30 concept has ben revealed ahead of its September 10 unveiling at the Frankfurt motor show, providing the clearest look yet at what will become the brand’s first small car.

Visible in a single image that follows a sketch of the car released in August, the Q30 concept is said to be a “unique fusion” of a coupe, hatch and crossover.

Previewing the production Q30 that is planned to hit the assembly line in late 2014 before arriving locally in 2015 to take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and Audi A3/Q3, the luxury Japanese marque says the Q30 concept combines the sportiness of a coupe with the roominess of a hatch and the higher stance of a crossover.

Designed to appeal to younger consumers seeking an alternative to ‘traditional’ premium compact vehicles, Infiniti says its compact Q30 will help extend the brand into “new premium segments”. The car marker adds that it is confident its design will resonate with its targeted audience.

Clearly taking inspiration from the 2011 Infiniti Etherea concept (pictured above) and the Q50 sedan, the Q30 is expected to take full advantage of Infiniti’s recent partnership with Mercedes-Benz by sharing both underpinnings – the A-Class and B-Class’ ‘MFA’ platform – and turbocharged four-cylinder engines with the German brand.

More details will be announced at the car’s Frankfurt unveiling.
