German car maker Audi and STMicroelectronics have partnered to jointly develop semiconductor solutions in three major areas of automotive design.
The solutions will be used for reduction of CO2 emissions, safety and security, infotainment and comfort.
Audi chief executive engineer electrics/electronics Ricky Hudi said that the partnership is part of its progressive semiconductor program (PSCP), to further proactively strengthen its involvement and demand on innovative 'white-box' electronics.
"ST was a natural choice, as it has a broad technology portfolio, in-house manufacturing capabilities and a proven commitment to automotive," Hudi said.
STMicroelectronics executive vice-president and general manager of Automotive Product Group Marco Monti said that the PSCP is a clear demonstration of Audi's commitment to innovation and recognition from the automotive world.
"Partnering with customers is one of our key assets and has been for twenty-five years," Monti said.
