Maruti Suzuki India has unveiled the new three-row, seven-seated Ertiga MPV in the country.
The new MPV will be offered in diesel and petrol versions, with the diesel version powered by 1248cc D13A DDiS VGT engine generating an output of 90ps and a torque of 200nm at 1750rpm.
Its petrol variant will be powered by the new 1373cc K14B VVT engine which will deliver a power output of 95ps at 6000rpm and a torque of 130nm at 4000rpm.
Ertiga's diesel variant, which will be priced between INR730,000 ($14,269) to INR854,000 ($16,693), is expected to deliver 20.77kmpl.
Its petrol variant, priced between INR589,000 ($11,513) to INR730,000 ($14,269), is expected to deliver 16.02kmpl.
Maruti Suzuki India has invested about INR4.1bn ($78m) to develop the new vehicle which was initially meant for Indian market but company now plans to export the vehicles to overseas market starting from Southeast Asian region.
According to the company, MPVs have reported 20% growth in recent years and currently account for about 10 % share of the Indian automobile industry.
