SPOKANE, Wash. — Bedding specialty store giant Mattress Firm will expand into Washington and onto the West Coast next month with the opening of three 5,000-square-foot stores here.
In a release, the Houston-based Top 100 company with more than 1,000 units did not say whether the stores will be franchised or corporate-owned units. The stores, opening in April, will be on North Division Street, East Sprague Avenue and North Newport Highway.
"We are thrilled to announce Mattress Firm's expansion to the West Coast with the opening of three new locations in Spokane," CEO Steve Stagner said in a statement. "Our goal is to make the experience of shopping for a new mattress as simple and rewarding a process as possible, and with our unparalleled selection and knowledgeable staff, we will do just that."
The retailer noted that it offers 55 mattress models from suppliers such as Sealy, Serta, Simmons and Tempur-Pedic, including specialty mattress and bedding products incorporating the latest sleep technology.
Stores are designed around the retailer's "Comfort by Color" concept, allowing customers to browse and compare styles and brands based on the comfort level of the mattress: yellow for firm, orange for plush, red for pillow top, green for contoured and blue for "personalized."
Mattress Firm said it expects to hire 10 full-time employees for the three new stores.
