Honda Is Planning to Assemble The Hybrid Version of Its Fit Subcompact in Thailand

Japanese automaker Honda is planning to assemble the hybrid version of its Fit subcompact in Thailand.

The company said that this would be its first 1.3-litre car manufactured outside Japan, which is expected to start this summer, and the locally-assembled version will be called Jazz Hybrid.

Honda will vehicles to neighboring countries from its Ayutthaya assembly plant in Thailand.

Until now, all Fit Hybrids, with sales of about 86,000 units in 2011, were manufactured in Japan.

Earlier this week the automaker has launched the new Civic in Thailand, which is equipped with two engines including the 1.8-litre and the 2.0-litre i-VTEC petrol mills.

Currently, the automaker has five models for the new Civic, of which four of them are powered by the 1.8-liter mill.
