Hamburger Recycling has agreed to acquire Turkey-based recycling company Kastas Kagit for an undisclosed sum.
Situated in the Izmir region, Kastas Kagit’s will allow Hamburger Recycling to expand its efficiency in the collection and trading of secondary raw materials.
The firm’s 10.000m² is installed with two bale-press machines, one sorting line and an advanced theart transport solution center.
With around 130 employees, the company holds capacity to process around 60.000 tonnes of paper for recycling per year.
Hamburger Recycling division MD Andreas Walser said: “With the acquisition of Kastas we are happy to have found our perfect match in Turkey. It also marks a major step towards the supply of our recently announced paper mill project in Kütahya.”
With an additional recycling site, Hamburger Recycling can achieve a total recycling capacity of 145.000 tonnes of paper for recycling per year in Turkey.

Hamburger Recycling is part of Austrian-based Prinzhorn Group, which offers packaging, paper and recycling services in around 15 countries.
Prinzhorn Group operates three business units, including Dunapack Packaging that produces corrugated packaging solutions and Hamburger Containerboard involved in the production of containerboard. Its third unit is Hamburger Recycling.
