Coal Exports From PWCS up 3.15 Percent Compared to The Same Period Last Year

Coal exports from the Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 9.50 million mt in December last year, increasing by 24.49 percent compared to November, according to the company's announcement. 14 percent of the total coal handled at the terminals was coking coal.

In 2013, coking coal exports constituted 16 percent of overall coal exports from PWCS, which totaled 109.22 million mt, up 3.15 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in 2013, with shipments to Japan accounting for 50.59 percent of total shipments, while coal exports to China made up 22.03 percent of the total.
