US-based Earthbound Farm, a grower, packer and shipper of organic produce, adopts Adept Technology for four Adept ClamPAC robotic systems to case pack clamshells.
The new technology gave the company leeway to automate manual operation, besides also allowing them to design a new, environmentally friendly clamshell that requires gentle handling.
Earthbound Farm engineering director Joe Torquato said they explored several suppliers offering robotic systems, before zeroing in on Adept, as it was the only one which could withstand the company's rigorous routine sanitation.
"Our new robotic packaging systems improve the consistency of our throughput, which helps position us for continued growth. The technology is gentle and accurate; it reduces product damage and enhances the presentation of our clamshells in the case," Torquato said.
The company is said to have been satisfied with the first four ClamPAC systems, hence they purchased four more.
