German plantmaker SMS Siemag has announced that Metal Ravne, part of Slovenian Steel Group (SIJ), has placed an order with SMS INNSE S.p.A., Italy, and SMS Mevac GmbH, Germany, for the planning, delivery and erection of a secondary metallurgical center, which will be integrated into the existing Metal Ravne plant at Ravne na Koroskem, Slovenia. The new facilities will include a ladle furnace and a degassing unit.
With this new metallurgical center, Metal Ravne will increase its steel production and achieve additional production capacity in secondary metallurgy. The steel producer is investing in this installation to extend its product range to include stainless steel.
The secondary metallurgical center is scheduled to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2015.
