Rexam Healthcare is all set to launch the latest version of its child resistant closure (CRC), the Clic-Loc 4, later in 2013, in response to the growth in demand for oral dose packaging protection globally.
Rexam's Clic-Loc, which is claimed to have adult-friendly operation and multiple manufacturer benefits, delivers ergonomics. It can be used on production lines, and to alert parents and caregivers it creates an audible warning click.
For protection, production efficiency and product differentiation, the closure will provide improved functionality and aesthetics. It has a senior-friendly, deeper and coarser outer knurling pattern that improves grip and offers easier operation for adults.
The closure comprises V-rings, which allow for a liner-less option, and its 38mm stock options include printed word, printed pictogram, or raised and highlighted word versions.
Custom graphics, printed with up to three colors, are also available for visual appeal. Overall weight and height of the latest version have been reduced and the closure needs no push-down.
According to the company, the new closure is similar to the existing Clic-Loc. It is shrink wrap friendly and offers capper flexibility. It has been designed for secure and frustration-free usage by seniors and those with disabilities.
Rexam Healthcare global marketing - Containers & Closures Russ Bryant said the increase in young children who are accidentally exposed to medicine is known worldwide.
"Organizations such as Safe Kids Worldwide report chilling statistics and, as global industry leaders, we have preemptively developed the CRC we believe is the answer - for children, parents and our customers," Bryant said.
Rexam Healthcare is a subsidiary of the UK group Rexam, and provides solutions to protect and deliver pharmaceuticals.
