Textile Exchange will host a webinar which will provide a sneak peak into the 2013 Textile Sustainability Conference Session: How to Make Closed Loop Recycling and Upcycling Work in a Global Textile Industry
At present a rough 80% of all apparel worldwide is directly discarded into the domestic waste, meaning that the resources harbored are forever lost and causing tremendous environmental damage.
To fight these negative effects it is necessary to reprocess resources as many times as possible, keeping them within closed loops.
The first important step towards this goal is being taken by the world-wide implementation of collection programs of all sorts.
But taking into consideration the global raw material scarcity we also need procedures that instead of down-cycle, keep the value of resources at the same or even higher value level.
Therefore the second step to really ‘close the loop’ requires the development of technical solutions and up-cycling techniques.
This pre-conference webinar will take an inside look at current end-of-use issues, closed loop projects, their aims and challenges.
Paul Doertenbach, Global Account Manager for I:Collect and Pailak Mzikian, Head of Recycling / Sustainability for SOEX, will join this webinar.
