Actavis and Valeant Pharmaceuticals have entered into an agreement under which Actavis will market and distribute Valeant's authorized generic of Zovirax ointment (acyclovir 5%) product in the US.
As per the agreement of Zovirax ointment, Valeant will supply Actavis with a generic version of its Zovirax ointment product and Actavis will market and distribute the product.
In addition, Actavis will also co-promote Valeant's Zovirax cream in the US while Valeant will co-promote Actavis Specialty Brands' Cordran Tape (flurandrenolide) product in the country.
Actavis said it will record all of the net sales of the generic ointment product and Valeant will receive a share of the economics.
Under terms of the agreement related to the co-promotion of Zovirax cream, Actavis will receive a co-promotion fee from sales generated by prescriptions written by its defined targeted physician group while Valeant will receive a co-promotion fee on sales under the terms of the Cordran Tape co-promotion agreement.
The remaining terms of the agreements have not been disclosed.
Zovirax cream 5% is indicated for the treatment of recurrent herpes labialis in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older while Cordran Tape is used to treat the inflammation and itching caused by a number of skin conditions.
