Rumanian hardwood sawmills are showing satisfactory demand for lumber on relevant sales markets in February. According to market participants, sales possibilities are favourable for both beech and oak lumber. Because of extreme cold in January and the first half of February, numerous sawmills either reduced or temporarily ceased sawing in the first few weeks of the year. In January, lumber production was roughly 60% below customary volumes for that month. Since then, weather conditions have improved again and production has gradually returned to normal.
