Nissan Qashqai: Compact Crossover's Face Revealed

Replacing the outgoing Dualis following an official name change, the Nissan Qashqai will be sold locally from the second half of 2014, adopting the nameplate seen in other global markets since 2007.

Due to be revealed in full on November 7 – 13 days ahead of its public debut at the Tokyo motor show on November 20 – the single image follows a teaser released last week and shows that the new five-seat-only Qashqai will share much with the all-new Nissan X-Trail (pictured below) due locally in Q2 2014.

Apart from its platform, the Qashqai also takes influence from the X-Trail’s bold grille, angular LED daytime running lights, sculpted bonnet and front bumper-mounted foglights. The smaller Qashqai additionally follows the X-Trail’s lead with wing mirror-mounted indicators and metal-look roof rails.

Last week, the Japanese manufacturer said the new Qashqai is “the most significant car in its modern history”, representing Nissan “at its most creative”. This week it claims the model will be the “next-generation crossover leader”.

Specifications are yet to be announced, however, petrol and diesel powerplants are expected to be offered, along with front- and all-wheel-drive variants.

The first-generation Nissan Dualis was originally launched in Australia in 2008.
