UPM-Kymmene has launched a SC paper custom-developed for coldset web offset printing.
UPM Impresse plus C is claimed to offer a smooth, glossier finish and magazine-quality which is ideally suited for CSWO printing.
The company says that the new Impresse plus C paper possesses a velvety finish and the texture can reproduce high quality print coupled with intense colours and rich contrasts.
The new product, according to the company, can open up new opportunities for CSWO printing businesses. The paper can let printing businesses to be more efficient in using their press capacity.
UPM Impresse plus C comes in three grammages including 48 g/m², 51 g/m² and 54 g/m². UPM stated that while special press settings may not be required for high quality results, the straightforward press/post-press recommendations for the best possible print quality.
The company plans to launch the product during this summer.
UPM Jämsä River Mills Product Manager in Finland Olli Juntunen said: "Customers with coldset presses told us they needed to make better use of their capacity and expand into new areas of commercial printing but they couldn't compete with the quality of heatset and rotogravure printers."

UPM-Kymmene was formed by the merging of Kymmene Corp with Repola Oy and its subsidiary United Paper Mills in 1996.
It includes six business groups such as UPM Biorefining, UPM Energy, UPM Raflatac, UPM Paper Asia, UPM Paper ENA and UPM Plywood and employs about 20,000 people across its production plants in 13 countries.
