China-based AUCMA Electric Vehicle has selected Sevcon to supply
Under the deal,Sevcon will supply its Gen4 digital motor controller with regenerative braking technology to AUCMA's A-2 truck.
The new A-2 light duty truck is powered by a 72V 16kW AC motor and is aimed at municipal fleets in both domestic and overseas markets.
AUCMA EV CEO Raymond Zhu said that the Sevcon controller is perfectly suited for the A-2 truck application with adjustable parameters that allow the company to tailor the performance to any specific truck type,from flatbed to cargo box vehicles.
"The customer support we have received from Sevcon has been exceptional and the company has worked hard to ensure the controller will work effectively across our applications,"Zhu said.
The electric drivetrain will give the A-2 a range of up to 150km and a top speed of over 50kph.
According to the company the truck can be fully recharged via a 220V 30A socket in 8 hours,with the onboard charger safely switching off when the battery is fully charged.
The truck is expected to go into service in municipal fleets operated by local authorities in China,the Chinese EV firm will export part-assembled A-2 trucks to the US,where they will be completed and sold from a base in California.
