An Antidumping Duty Investigating Regarding Galvanized Steel Imports

Australia's Antidumping Commission has announced that it has initiated an antidumping (AD) duty investigating regarding galvanized steel imports from Vietnam and India following an application from Australian steelmaker BlueScope Steel.

The antidumping duty investigation covers the period between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014. The application claims that the galvanized steel imports from the said countries caused injury to the Australian market through price suppression, reduced profit and profitability, reduced return on investment, reduced employment numbers and reduced ability to raise capital for reinvestment.

The products subject to duty investigation currently fall under the Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7210.49.00, 7212.30.00, 7225.92.00 and 7226.99.00. Products classified under 7210.49.00 and 7212.30.00 are duty free, while goods classified under 7225.92.00 and 7226.99.00 are subject to four percent customs duty.
