Thailand and Japan's Fukui Signed a Mou to Develop Cooperation

Thailand's Ministry of Indsutry and Japan's Fukui Prefecture have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop cooperation among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) of both countries.

Fukui prefecture is known for its textiles, garment, and machinery, especially textile machinery, industries. The prefecture has the largest share in Japan’s textile market.   As per the MoU, Thailand and Fukui will facilitate industrial exchange and also implement projects to connect their SME industrial clusters.

Already, twenty companies from Fukui have invested in Thailand. These companies operate a total of 11 factories, mainly in the textile and garment industries, with a combined investment of Bt7 billion.

As a result of the MoU, more Japanese companies are likely to set up their production in Thailand, generating more employment opportunities for local people. (RKS)
