US-based health care products company Abbott has launched a new laboratory automation track system, ACCELERATOR a3600.
Designed to help laboratories address the need to process tests faster while handling increased volume, the system processes up to 3,600 samples per hour and handles multiple tube sizes and types simultaneously.
The platform, which was designed in partnership with Swiss-based Inpeco, also features a modular design that offers labs the ability to install up to 99 combined analyzers and modules on a single system.
Abbott diagnostics products executive vice president Brian Blaser said with the use of ACCELERATOR a3600, labs can be more efficient and productive.
"Labs using automation can achieve more than 40 percent greater efficiency, helping them adapt to meet current and future demand, which is particularly important as approximately 70 percent of medical decisions are informed by diagnostic testing," Blaser added.
