The prospects of cooperation between Belarusian and German textile companies were discussed at meetings of Belarusian and foreign participants at Techtextil 2013, the International Trade Fair for Technical Textiles and Nonwovens held in Frankfurt, Germany from June 11-13, 2013.
During negotiations, an agreement was reached between German firm MAGEBA, the system provider for the narrow fabric industry, and the Belarusian company Belkhudozhpromysly, according to Belarusian Telegraph Agency.
The German company would supply weaving equipment for Slutsk belts, and it will help the Government’s programme of reviving the manufacturing of the traditional Slutsk belts.
Slutsk belts present a unique variety of hand weaving and are Belarusian national relic. The Government of Belarus is planning to produce national Slutsk belts national souvenirs for 2012-15.
Techtextil 2013 saw participation of more than 1,250 companies, which included some of the world’s largest textile enterprises.
Khimvolokno, OAO Mogilevkhimvolokno, OAO Grodno Azot, OAO SvetlogorskKhimvolokno, Polotsk –Steklovolokno, and the private company Makhina-TST from Mogilev were among the Belarusian firms that participated in the fair.
