The National Pork Board has approved budgets for the domestic and international marketing of pork, a move which will increase the demand for pork.
The board is planning to provide $27,735,000 in 2013 and about $7,102,000 for international marketing which will hold back the losses which are expected in the forthcoming year.
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) should approve the budget and it will also supervise the National Pork Board's investment in the Pork Checkoff, reported Thepigsite.com.
National Pork Board president Conley Nelson said that the budget was approved as pork prices are expected to rise in 2013 because of reduced pork supplies.
Supporting the Pork Be inspired advertising and promotional campaign will help to increase the demand for pork, Nelson added.
Currently US Pork exports are expected to reach the 2011 record of $6.108bn in value and 4.97 billion pounds.
