The Introduction of CNC Turning

Tags: CNC Turning

Precision machining has found wider acceptance in producing post production tools such as rods, pulleys. They offer the highest degree of precision while fabricating these materials. That is why CNC turning or anywhere for that matter, has been so popular in the recent times.

CNC turning is a process of precision machining and is mostly used for the fabrication of cylindrical tools such as rods and pulleys. The cylindrical tools are manufactured by shaping metals using CNC lathes. CNC effectively stands for computer numerically controlled and is mostly run through computer driven software's. An operator usually controls the software driven machine and sets the parameters for the production of the components according to the preset specifications.

Although CNC rotating is a quite simple process, it is very essential for producing plastic machines. It is used to drive the precision tool to insert the cutting tool into the rotating material. The cutting procedure is facilitated by a cutting tool. The cutting tool is either applied at a 90 degree angle to that of the axis or parallel of the rotating material. This builds up the required pressure on the work piece or the fabricating material thereby producing desirable shapes or components. The desired surface is formed by rotating the helical funnel using the computer numerically controlled assembly.

The CNC turning offers distinct advantages. The cutting or the drilling tool is kept on until the desired degree of precision or the desired component is formed. CNC tuning can be done from both external as well as the internal surfaces. Large spare parts are usually too difficult to balance and rotate around a single focus. So, these are usually mounted on machines having a U axis. The rotating radius is about 1000 mm and the speed ranges about 4000 revolutions per second at a power of 46 Kilowatts.

The CNC turning can cut the plastic in different shapes. The plastics may be shaped in a pointed, planar, curved or contoured shape. The turned pieces are used to produce components such as shafts, bushes, rods pulleys and lots of other components. Different materials such as Aluminium, Brass, Stainless Steel, Titanium and PVC can be turned to produce the desired component. CNC rotating is more cost efficient than the CNC milling technique as it brings down the production cost significantly. But there are certain limitations of CNC rotating technique. The designs do not have that much of flexibility as compared to the CNC milled components.

In addition to CNC rotating, heavy gas machining has also become quite popular. These have a fast production rate and a significant amount of accuracy.

These techniques are used to manufacture auto spares, motorcycle spares and toy parts as well. These have found application in different industries like aerospace industries, pharmaceutical industries, and automobile industries.

That is why these have become so popular in the recent times.
